Lismore City Concert Band always welcomes new players …

Being part of a band is fantastic for enhancing not only musical skills but also your capacity to work as part of a team & widens your sense of personal community. And it’s a lot of fun!

Can you play an instrument?  Read music?  Perhaps you used to play an instrument at school, or have always wanted to play in a band & have been waiting for an opportunity to come along?

There is no need for an audition.  The level of pieces played ranges from Grade 1 to 4 [AMEB].  Tunes are tailored to suit most abilities but even if a bit daunting at first – don’t worry – just play what you’re capable of & you’ll soon get the hang of it.  You WILL need some level of ability to read written music notation ~ your reading ability will skyrocket as you continue to play with us.

ALSO!  We have a number of instruments available for loan to band members. Talk to us.

If this sounds like the band for you, why not join our weekly rehearsals & experience it for yourself.  Rehearsals are held during school term on Monday afternoon/early evening in the upstairs Concert Space at the Northern Rivers Conservatorium (NRC).  Come along to observe a rehearsal in action to see just how friendly we are & to help decide whether you’d like to join! 🙂

In order to officially join us, you will need to register online via the Conservatorium’s own website:

Monday Rehearsal times:  4.45-6.30pm  [during NSW school terms]

  • LCCB term fee: $50* per school term  [that’s roughly a mere $5/session!!] – payable to the Band.
  • NRC annual registration fee:  $25  [covers insurance/liability**] – payable to the Con.

*  New FAMILY DISCOUNT RATES apply as of Term 2 2018 ~ Additional siblings (i.e. dependent children) are charged significantly lower fees if another family member has joined, i.e. ….

1st family member (child or adult) $50 per term

2nd dependent sibling:  $30 per term

Each additional dependent sibling:  $20 per term

**  ADDITIONALLY! .. If you’ve already paid this fee for the current year as part of lessons or courses at the Con or for an artist market stall as part of the monthly markets outside the Con, then you will not need to pay this fee for a second time (& vice versa if you want to join the monthly market stallholders), because this insurance fee covers ALL onsite activities.

If you would like to sharpen your playing skills, you may wish to consider have a few lessons – the NRC Community Music program provides excellent individual tuition – speak to Ben van Kleef or one of our members for more information.
