Concert bands have been a part of the Northern Rivers [NSW] community since the early 20th Century.
Lismore City Concert Band, in its current incarnation has been operating continuously for over thirty years. Formed in 1979 by John Allen, the band has regularly performed at local civic & community events all over the Northern Rivers region.
Our current Musical Director, Ben van Kleef, is a qualified music teacher & conductor who expertly provides members with the skills, inspiration & motivation to play their best during weekly rehearsals & concerts. Our members are of wide-ranging ages & abilities, playing brass, woodwind & percussion instruments.
Our music library of some 800 scores ranges from classical to contemporary & popular arrangements of marches, polkas, pop songs, TV/film themes, Australian pieces & traditional tunes.
The band is currently purchasing new instruments + refurbishing our old instruments. We have some instruments for loan to interested players.
After many years based at the Northern Rivers Conservatorium, we are grateful to our new host, Southern Cross University (Lismore Campus), for its generous provision of a new regular rehearsal venue & much-needed storage space.
